…what kind of pet makes you go YEOW!?
(Guest post by Haley and Sophie)
We all have a pet, want a pet, or have had a pet, haven’t we? We have been thinking of a challenge for you:
please write on your own blogs about a pet that you want, have, or have had.
In your post, you can:
- Describe your pet–what does it look like?
What does it behave like? - Tell a funny story about your pet.
- Write a funny ‘profile’ about your pet.
- Write about a strange habit or destructive quality your pet has (for example: Haley’s dog Rosie destroys everything, and her dog Rocky eats all the dog food)
- Write a sad story about your pet. Sophie’s tiny pink fish named Moe got eaten by my other, bigger fish, Slick. So sad.
- And if you know how to, please put a picture of your pet on your blog.
We know lots of our friends’ pets have done strange things, so why not let us know about the animals in your life?
Please link back to this post: the “pingbacks” will help others know there is a post to read from you!
Well, this is our challenge to you, from us (also known as Sophie and Haley) from Huzzah!

This is a great challenge Sophie and Haley. When I was a lot younger we had a pet bird but it died on us. As a family we travelled a lot over the weekends, so we didn’t have any more pets at all. I have been watching on Austar the series called ‘Animal Precinct’ and notice the terrible cruelty some owners inflict on their pets. I hope the students who respond or write their own posts don’t have terrible stories to tell. Again, well done, and thanks for being the first students to post on our new blog.
Hi guys… right now I have a cat named Lily. She is really sweet… you can check out my post on it on my blog:

Hello,
The animal that I would want is a dog. Whether it is a King Charles or a Morkie. They are both great. I think this is a great way to start the compition. I mean everyone loves animals. What is one that you want, have, or had?

Lauren, your post describes the touching moment when your cat chose you for her owner–I invite others to read it!
Olivia has included a beautiful picture of her love birds Luigi and Sophie. Sophie has a thing for noses!
Hi Miss W.
We didn’t have pets either when I was young as my father was a pilot and we moved from Canada to Europe and back–animals had to stay in quarantine for months before joining their owners, so we reluctantly agreed that it would not be kind to animals to do that. Now we have a golden retriever named Luke–he is a certified search and rescue dog, and he is a sweetie to boot!
Cameron, I think you’re right, people do have a soft spot for animals. The pictures on your site are quite adorable. Now, my husband says that people who get small dogs tend not to train them well, allowing them to jump up and so on. He says they treat them more like toys. What do you think?
Michael, I am looking forward to reading your post about Tigger next week. Do you think it’s true that some people are cat people and others are dog people?

And you do! Perhaps the kind–a penguin who lives in your sidebar: and you don’t have to feed it, walk it or clean its cage!
I did have a cat, but it never came back one day.

Hey,
I don’t have a pet, but if I could have any pet I wanted I would most likely have a moose or a penguin either or I like them both (:
Sophie and Haley -
I want you to know that your question sparked my students blog post of the week (well of next week…). We are working on animal projects for a unit we are working on and each child (and me the teacher) picked an animal to do a report on. Students are going to have to convince readers that their animal would make the perfect pet (fun persuasive writing). My leech post is already online and students will begin posting next week. Thank you for inspiring a fun writing assignment!
