Homework. Should it Stay or Should it Go?
Posted by: elizabethj09 in questions, tags: homeworkHomework, homework, homework. It’s the word on everyone’s lips. Everyone has their own opinion of homework. Most kids aren’t too fond of it, but our parents think it’s great. (Probably because they don’t have to do the homework.) So should we do it quietly and get on with it or put up a fight?
Homework isn’t the most popular thing in the world but it can be useful and this is how. Well, it can prepare us for high school and university, as well as teaching us more and preparing us for tests or other challenges the next day. It is also a way for our teacher and our parents to see how organised we really are.
On the other hand, homework is super annoying! If you want to go outside or to the beach or catch up with friends there is only one thing stopping you and that’s ………… HOMEWORK!! We do lots of work at school and when we get home, we just want to relax and not have to do more work.
I’m not a homework fan. But if we have to do it then I will do it and get on with life. Homework has many different sides.

What an issue, I agree some kids love it and want more (especially parents) while others want less. I have found in my first year of teaching that giving homework every week is another load of work and time for me too, yet I have started to see benefits as a teacher. Until now I have been giving a random mixture of different spelling, reading, grammar and maths homework while trying to link it to the weeks learning. What I noticed were some large gaps in my students knowledge, things that I had assumed they knew. I am now using homework to develop these areas and do my own informal diagnostic assessments to look for these needed teaching points.

As a student I agree that we should get homeworks but not saying that homework is very enjoyable. Many teachers that I experience give homework to expand your learning in one topic, or if they couldn’t finish teaching us about something they give us homework. I don’t know if teachers are REQUIRED to give out homeworks but homeworks can sure help me understand a bit more about that topic.

Hey.
I think homework is a good source of learning and I have liked it for a long time!
I think we should have to do it because when we get to university its going to be much worse!
Homework gives our teachers and parents a chance to see The way we organise our time and the way we Get on with it.
I myself do like homework and take home things that I need to get finished even though I dont have to.
I think that if homework is not given out students will slack and not do any work at school and not try hard enough, that could be a problem.
Homework is not an issue it helps with reports and and the teachers seeing your trustworthy.
For example: homework and reports: Homework helps the teachers know that you are able to do work at home and getting it in on a deadline.
Homework and Trustworth: Teachers should realise that you are trustworthy after you bring back your homework and then they know they can trust you and if you break that trust its all over.
So I think that we should get homework even though not many people like it.

I am not fond of homework, and don’t WANT homework, thats why i have voted yes and no, because it can be a good thing as you said in you main post, it is an essential peice of learning that shows that we have alot of orginization to get time that is free for us and sacrifice it to do work. on the other hand, like you said, that we do have time off after school and much rather do our own thing instead of work, and hang out with friends, listen to music, read and other thing that we want to do. But what we WANT to do, it isnt needed in our live, but learning is and is very important if we want to get a really good job or other thing. Also, very nice topic to bring up.

I think you do have to do homework because if you waste time at school then you will have to do it in you own time at home. I dont mind doing homework because it gives me something to do.

I think we dont need to do home work because school is finshed some people are busy like me I am busy all week because I train for jumping jacks and my football club and when I get home I have to go to bed

I think their should be no homework because homework is school work and school work is meant to be done at school. Some people such as myself, don’t have time to do homework because I am doing chores and then I’d do fun stuff without doing homework. I’m saying we shouldn’t just get homework like a math test but work we didn’t finish.

I think that we should not get homework because outside of school is out own time. I think that you should only get homework if you dont finish your work at school. Some people do like getting homework because at home they might get bored you should be able to ask for homework and have to complete work at home but you should not be forced to do it for no reason. So i choose to vote NO HOMEWORK.

I dont think we shoud have homework because if we have something on all week then we cant do homework because we wont be there all the time so then ween you come to school the teacher will go mad and then she or he wont believe you so then you get a bad report.

I think they should stop homework, because work is for school and not for home.
Some people don’t have time after school to do homework.
School is for learning, and you go home from school to have a break from learning and doing work.
So i think homework should be banned!

I think we shouldn’t get homework because it’s our free leisure time we should do our school work at school but if you don’t finish your work at school you have to finish it off at home.And if your busy every day and you get homeworkand won’t finish and you will get in trouble by your teachers.School is for learning and home is’t so that’s why i don’t think we should homework.If you don’t finish your work at school you should do it the next day orwhen you have got free time at school.

I reckon homework should go!
Not everyone has time to do homework after school !
Anyway, after school is our free time.
I reckon if we dont do our work we should be made to do it
the next day or at recess or lunch not in our own spare time!

I think we need homework because it helps you learn more after school.You need to continue with homework because what you learn at school is not enough.

Then reason why you should do your homework is, because if you don`t know your Mathmatics you may not do well on your Taks test which is in a month.It gives us a chance to practives our Math that we might be weak in.

We don’t like homework because on the one hand we spend 8 hours at school working a lot but on the other hand we have to be responsible of the assignments we don’t finish in class. In addition we feel that homework makes us suffer. Although homework can be extra practice, we don’t like it!

Hi Im from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I think homework is boring but it helps you to study and improve your marks we are 8 hours at school and that’s too much. Some people like us having more things to do out of school and the time is so little. Well I hope this blog works and we can get in contact with people of other countries.

Hello to everyone!
I as a student agree that we should have homework sometimes.But with what i do not agree is to have weekly homework as for math ( in our case). The homework is good for us to study and understand, but it is not for us to cry about it since we forget to do it sometimes! I agree with homework, but not on the punishments you get for not doing it once or twice!

Hello everyone!
As a student, I have two thinkings… On one hand I think that homework sometimes is boaring, because if you think that you pass 8 hours learning at school and you have to do extra work in our home, you finish exausting!
But on the other hand I think that we are responsable on the work that you don’t do in class, like if you didn’t do nothing on class you have to recompensee in home. Also homework is extra practise, but I do not agree with weekly homework, I agree with things that you had to finish in class but not with that, and Maybe homework is good, when you have to practise for tests you need extra practise or homework, but the thing that teachers can do is giving extra practise only for studing for tests.
