What type of person comes to your mind when you hear somebody talk about a “Real Hero”?

YearSix students have answered this question by brainstorming ideas in the different groups. As a class, they came up with the following definition of a real hero.

“Heroes are well-known people who are distinguished for their courage or ability. They are admired for brave deeds and noble qualities. They may have performed heroic acts. They may also be a role model or an ideal. They can contribute positively to society.”

Leave us a comment telling us how you would define the term “hero”.

    Hello,
‘Hero’ can be defined in many ways, but a true hero is born a leader. A hero doesn’t have to be well known, though it doesn’t hurt. A hero does good things for others and always tries their best in everything they do.

I think the real meaning of a hero is not just someone who saves the world. (as it is in comics)
But someone who Puts them self out there to help others.
Gives up there time just for other exp: Helping looking after the elderly, helping out a friend, Looking after little kids.
Anyone who gives up there time (or lives) to save someone else. thats what i think the true meaning of Hero means.

Our class, C-O Connections, http://www.coconnections.wonecks.net are participants in the Blog Challenge 09. We think that heroes are definitely made by the choices that are made. Heroes put other first and themselves always last. We have been taking TAKS tests all this week, but we will be posting on our blog about heroes and giving a pingback. Thanks for the idea.

    Hi Grade 6 students!
My definition of a hero is someone who has good qualities, contributes to soceity and helps to make the world a better place. A hero also does not have to be well known to be heroic. You have a really good definition, and I thought that your survey had good questions!

Hello to all me former students back in Argentina!!!
As I am now working in Woodbridge, VA, I will ask my students about their ideas about heroes and let you know about their answers!
To me a hero is a person who has noble values, does good deeds, and has the courage to stand up for his ideas.
A phrase I would like to share which reflects how we can all be heroes is : “ORDINARY PEOPLE CAN DO EXTRAORDINARY THINGS”
In my opinion a hero is made, not born. WE CAN ALL BE HEROES!IT’S UPTO US!

My definition of a hero is someone who exceeds the expectations of their peers. Someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty, or the standard, and works their hardest to become whatever they can given their circumstances. Someone who does not take the easy way out, but looks at their trials and says “Okay, I can do this.” and when it is over say “PLEASE SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!”

Acording to what we have been talking in class, we can define a hero as someone that will be remembered forever in histoy and did something important for society in a positive way. A hero is also someone who can be a role model, for some persons and someone who is admired by his courage and achievements but does not usually recieve money for what he or she does. In class we have named some character traits which a hero MUST have such as RESPONSABILE, HARD-WORKING, FIGHTER, LEADER, PERSERVANT, INTELLINGENT between others,
    Well Good Byeee

  51.   lynette06 Says:

I have never met someone who didn’t have to experience trials that made them better, thus I believe heroes are made because of challenges they overcome. Their heroic characteristics are obtained over time, they are not there the moment they were born. Interesting question to think about I think though.

  52.   yearsixale Says:

So, my answer to this post is that heroes are made, they are not born. They have to work hard and try their best until they aim their goal. As Inyette said, their different traits or characteristics are obtained over time! Well Good Byeee again
