Hello from Cape Town again. After completing our exciting Senior Citizens project (http://fionabeal.edublogs.org), we were introduced to the wonderful writing progamme Etherpad, and decided to explore collaborative story writing in class. This has been great fun. We put the Etherpad stories into Powerpoint, illustrated them with one of our graphic progammes and then imported them (of late) using Slideboom.com. I am including one of our stories. Just wondering – what kinds of programmes do you use to illustrate and publish digital stories?

Hello Miss Beal,
I’m one of Miss Ale’s students from Argentina, I think that the project is very good, I really like it. Answering to your question, I will suggest you to change the powerpoint presentation and turn it into a movie (you can use Windows Movie Maker) and then, if you want the audience to see if they understood the story, you can use a page called http://www.mystudiyo.com were you can insert your movie and then you can create yout own question, to see if the audience really understood. I hope you like my comment,

Hello Miss Beal,
It’s me again, I forgot you to say you that you can create as many questions as you want.

We use Photostory 3, which is a free download from Microsoft. I find Movie Maker to complicated to teach to my fourth graders. Photostory is much easier – but you can’t use any video.

Thanks for this suggestion Mrs Heaton. We do use Photostory 3 now and again – but can you load it onto a blog, I wonder?
Sincerely, Fiona Beal

Hello Miss Beal,
What a lovely story that your students wrote! It´s great and I enjoy reading it!
Well, we use Etherpad, as we told you. But, for publishing, we use or movie-maker. Or, also, in Google Docs you can also do powerpoints! There are things that people don´t imagen that they exist!
I really enjoy doing them! Don´t you? But, we prefer doing it in groups than alone.
Well, Miss Beal, the story is lovely!
Bye,
Belen D, Miss ALe´s student of Argentina
