…but not the same way

or at the same time everywhere.

We can thank the tilt of the Earth’s axis for that. If you live in the southern hemisphere, you are about to enter Fall, and in the northern hemisphere Spring is on its way. Closer to the equator the differences may be more subtle depending on the climate.

Here on the West Coast of Canada we are just feeling the signs of Spring. Warmer days, the crocuses have bloomed, and we can see leaf buds on the trees. I especially love the sound of robins in the morning.

So tell us in a post (and link here) or leave a comment:

  • What is the season where you live? Have you noticed changes that tell you a new season has begun?
  • Seasonal change affects what we can do–do you have favourite activities that are suited to only one season? And do you have a favourite season?
  • Has climate change affected the length or intensity of changes in weather where you live? How are plants, animals, and people affected?

If you can, why not take a picture of a tree or a garden that shows your season and add it to your blog?

Some books we have read that were interesting and fun to read are: The World According to Humphrey, School Spirit, Shakespeare Secret, and Star Girl. Some series we enjoy are: Bone, Candy Apple, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and the Series of Unfortunate Events.

Our favorite book or series would be the Series of Unfortunate Events. In this series there are 3 orphans Violet, Klaus, and Sunny.   Violet is an inventor, Klaus likes to read, and Sunny likes to bite hard things.  The orphans go to live in different places such as Prufrock Preparatory School, Lucky Smells Lumber Mill, Uncle Monty’s house, and the Village of Fowl Devotees. In later books, the siblings start to wander on their own.

If you have read this series or one of the books, which do you like the most?

What character from the series are you most like?

If you are not familiar with this series, what books or other series do you like to read?

This Episode of the Blogger’s Food Network brought to you by  Brianne and Brittany

After school do you have some sort of yummy snack? Today we’re going to tell you some of our favourite snacks for after school or for the weekend, and here’s Brianne for the Snack Report. What does it look like Brittany?

I’m going to tell you my favourite after school snack Cinnamon Toast.

You Will Need:

  • A bun or sliced bread
  • Butter or margarine
  • Cinnamon (of course)
  • Sugar
  • A toaster
  • And a butter knife

First you have to cut the bun, in half put the toaster just below medium, then put the bun in the toaster. Once popped, take the toast out quickly and then butter it. Wait for a couple seconds and then sprinkle the cinnamon on. After you put the cinnamon on sprinkle the sugar.

Tah dah! Cinnamon toast.

So Brianne, what are you cooking up?

Well, a good snack idea for these cold months is Homemade Potato Chips. You can make salt and vinegar or ranch! I make them with my mom. Here’s how:

You Will Need :

  • 2 potatoes
  • salt
  • vinegar
  • A 12 by 9 inch baking pan
  • Oven or toaster oven
  • and last but not least a steak knife

What you need to do is slice the potatoes very finely about 1 or 2 cm wide. Lay the slices of potato out in the baking pan and season them carefully. Put a capful of vinegar on every 2 slices of potato. Put them in the oven at 350 degrees F and bake for 5-10 minutes for best results. Take them out and dish them up. Eat them with ketchup or mustard.

So Blogging Friends, what do you like to eat for snack? Can you cook? Do you like to? Write a post with your favourite recipe or tell us in a comment!

Here are some things that you might appreciate: kindness…sense of humour…athletic….fun. What else?

  • What qualities do you look for in a friend?
  • Why do you like those qualities?
  • What do you like to do with your friends?
  • What qualities do you have that make you a good friend?

Write a post or leave a comment about what you look for in a friend and why!

…what kind of pet makes you go YEOW!?

(Guest post by Haley and Sophie)

We all have a pet, want a pet, or have had a pet, haven’t we? We have been thinking of a challenge for you:

please write on your own blogs about a pet that you want, have, or have had.

    In your post, you can:

    • Describe your pet–what does it look like? What does it behave like?
    • Tell a funny story about your pet.
    • Write a funny ‘profile’ about your pet.
    • Write about a strange habit or destructive quality your pet has (for example: Haley’s dog Rosie destroys everything, and her dog Rocky eats all the dog food)
    • Write a sad story about your pet. Sophie’s tiny pink fish named Moe got eaten by my other, bigger fish, Slick. So sad.
    • And if you know how to, please put a picture of your pet on your blog.

We know lots of our friends’ pets have done strange things, so why not let us know about the animals in your life?

Please link back to this post: the “pingbacks” will help others know there is a post to read from you!

Well, this is our challenge to you, from us (also known as Sophie and Haley) from Huzzah!
